Quick updates:
After receiving great feedback and looking at the analytics, it seems like many people are enjoying the first section of this newsletter most! I hear you, and I’ve made a few small adjustments to the newsletter format. Hope you enjoy!
You might’ve seen new social media-like features on Substack such as “Chats” & “Notes” come on board recently. As of right now, I don’t plan on using these (you signed up for a once a month email, not another place to have to check notifications). So call me old fashion, but the best way to reach me is to hit reply/respond to this email directly. Even if you just wanted to introduce yourself, I’d love to get to know more of you on a 1-1 level.🙂

With the appetizer out of the way, let’s get into the meat and potatoes:
WHAT'S COOKING LOS ANGELES?!
The Ciderworks - This new addition to Story Tavern in downtown Burbank has a 100% gluten free menu and taproom featuring seasonal ciders. Story Tavern, which is right next door to the all GF Ciderworks has an entire game room (ping pong, darts, etc..) & patio!
Verón - A new plant-based macaron shop just opened up in downtown LA. Containing no traditional egg whites, these babies are vegan & gluten-free. They also happen to be soy-free!
Earle’s - Earle’s on Crenshaw is an establishment (that started out years ago as a hot dog stand). It recently made Eater’s list of 38 essential restaurants in LA. Lucky for us, it’s got a lot of vegan options and some gluten free ones to choose from.
What Else is Simmering...
(bakery news)- Breadblok just opened a location in Beverly Hills🍞🥐. [**UPDATE** Since publishing, Breadblok has unexpectedly and sadly closed]
(restaurant news)- I never thought Fogo de Chão would enter the vegan game🥩⁉️, but BEHOLD… the Brazilian steakhouse has debuted a vegan menu.
(food news)- Those viral, fluffy, Japanese souffle pancakes have made their way to Los Angeles. Here’s a GF & DF version if you’re having FOMO like me.
(product)- This GF & V chocolate chip cookie dough🍫🍪from EatPastry is edible cooked or raw (the way I like it!).
(recipe)- For a slightly healthier option, try making these GF & V strawberry coconut cookie dough bites🍓🥥🍪.
(recipe)- This kabocha squash souffle🍠looks like it’s to die for!
(food)- Have you heard of fiddleheads🟢? Check out this awesome, curly-cue shaped veg & ways you can safely consume it!

(service)- This vegan travel agency ✌️✈️🌍 / agent is making free-from trip planning a touch easier :)
(articles)- Pepsi, Wingstop, Panera, & Starbucks are investing, testing, and using new AI for various functions (from customer service to actual products) 🏢🤖.
(article & images)- The largest edible mushroom🍄👀, Termitomyces Titanicus, holds true to its name! Wowza! (sadly it is not hallucinogenic ;))
(article & images)- A giant woolly mammoth meatball 🦣🥩was unveiled recently (I’m not sure why, but that’s another story…)
(article & images)- In the spirit of (hopefully) extinct animals, check out Amaury Guichon create an incredible chocolate dinosaur sculpture🍫🦖.

Just saw that Breadblok closed 😪 dunno the story behind that since they seemed to be rapidly expanding but it’s very sad.
